Just a question

Why is it that with all the furor about students using iPods to cheat on tests, no one seems to be considering the fact that maybe it is the tests that should be changed? Yes, even with a test that requires students to think and write a coherent answer, they could use an iPod to cheat, but it would be a lot harder I think. And they would still have to take the information on their crib sheets and turn it into an essay that answered the question.

I agree... it seems to be just another case of treating the symptoms and not what's actually wrong... I also think tests tend to be rather simplified, and writing full answers actually prove whether somebody understands something or not.

Nancy -
I am just starting out and venturing into this blogging atmosphere, and I wasn't sure where to go. I was lucky enough to hear Will Richardson speak a couple of months ago and my private school in Atlanta is implementing a 1-to-1 Tablet PC program. Basically, all of my 6th grade students will have their own laptop and personal blog...I am in charge of the blogging end, and I am not a "natural blogger."
Your orignial posts in '05 are my thoughts now. If you have a chance, I'd love to get your advice on blogging and incorporating blogging into a classroom setting. Understandably, your students are much older than mine, but due to your experience, I'd appreciate any insights or advice. Thanks!
